TRAINING
Training will be conducted in accordance with the following:
- AS2359 the National Standard for Persons Performing High Risk Work and the WA Act and regulations as required by Work safe WA.
- Training is conducted in accordance with the Standards for RTO’S 2015. Assessment Guidelines of the above Unit of Competence are from the Transport and Logistics training package – TL10
ASSESSMENT
Written and Practical assessment on completion of training. A National Licence will be issued by Worksafe WA to successful participants and Statement of Attainment will be issued by NWTIS.
CONTENT
Principles of duty of care, Forklift owner’s responsibilities, Operators responsibilities, Pre-operational checks, Hazard identification , Hazard control
Safe operation of forklift, Stability characteristics, Load assessment, Load centre and capacity, Safe load shifting, Skill development, Manufacturer’s requirements and Shutdown of forklift

Protective Clothing
Safety glasses, work boots and appropriate clothing is required for the duration of the course. Safety helmets can be provided.
Duration
2 x 8 hour days for up to 8 persons
Prerequisite
Participants must be at least 18 years of age.
It is recommended that participants have some experience operating prior to assessment. If you believe you have any special needs, (numeracy, literacy, reading, language, mental health & physical disabilities) alternate arrangements can be negotiated with NWTIS to accommodate. Please let us know either in advance or directly to the trainer so we can help assist you.
